A weekend ride-out on your motorbike, touring along brooks and through the typical “hollow roads”, riding hairpin-turns over steep hills, and enjoying some of the most spectacular and beautiful views in the Netherlands?

Camping on a righteous motorcyclists camping and meeting equal minded folk, making daytrips to Maastricht, Valkenburg or Aken, the Ardens, visiting, after a sturdy breakfast, picturesque places with names like Monschau, Malmedy and SanktVith, seeing the sites at the impressive weirs or dams at La Gileppe, the famous caves at Han, the Francorchamps circuit or visiting on of the castles that are abundantly littered through the landscape, and being back at the campsite in time to eat a copious barbequed meal on our delicious terrace? Then enjoy the ( often live) entertainment and a nice drink at our agreeable bar? Play darts or pool in the gaming-room, or even dance?

All that (and more) is possible at Biker Roadhouse &Camping "Herberg het IJzeren Paard". (=Dutch for: Iron Horse Saloon) Thanx to its geographical position Het IJzeren Paard is a fine spot for a first or last stop when visiting Europe from the UK or before riding back home, when on a motorcycling holiday.

Knowing what they are talking about, the regional tourist-office calls the Southern Limburg hilly landscape the most foreign of our domestic landscapes. Almost un-Dutch scenery combined with the proverbial easygoing hospitable character of the Limburgers make Zuid Limburg into a preferred destination for al kinds of motorcyclists and bikers. The innkeeper at Biker Roadhouse & Camping "Herberg het IJzeren Paard" is very pleased and proud to be your host here.

Positioned right above the "gateway to the hills", the village of Simpelveld, you will find this recreational facility designed for and catering to motorcyclists, where the innkeeper will, if so desired, take time to advise his guests, based on his wide-ranging biker experience, on trip-destinations or –routes, where you as motorcyclist/biker are cordially welcome, and where you will find an open mind and comprehension for your needs and wishes.

You can camp at Herberg het IJzeren Paard, even if you want to travel light, without bulky tens and such, or when you prefer to keep your gear dry for the remainder of your trip (rent-a-tent, your tent is ready and waiting when you ride in), there are facilities to dry your wet clothes and other gear, simple but sufficient and clean sanitary facilities, benches so you could go out without the dog sometimes, a well stocked cozy bar, a solid and healthy dish of the day (but also serving meals a la carte, or hot snacks), a sturdy breakfast in the mornings (served on the terrace when the weather allows it). The premises feature 2 terraces, on the larger there is always a lit bbq or fireplace, more often than not inciting campfire yearns.

Clubs and groups may benefit from discounts, and when the temperature is substandard, we can, as long as supplies lasts, provide heating in your tent. In late fall, winter and early spring, we can make weekend-arrangements for groups including indoor and heated sleeping facilities.
